HIT OR FLOP: Ishq Subhan Allah, Yeh Hai Mohabbatein, Kullfi Kumarr Bajewala, Kundali Bhagya?
Your weekly dope on the ongoing TV shows. While the makers of a few shows would be smiling from ear to ear with the results of Week 17 (April 21- 27), a few would have to work towards luring the audience...
Zee TV’s Ishq Subhan Allah is proving to be quite a hit
with the audience. The TV series clinched the 2nd spot in Week 17 (April
21- 27). Last time, it occupied the 3rd spot.
The show tells the story of Kabeer (Adnan Khan) and Zara
(Eisha Singh), both devout followers of Islam, who happen to interpret the
Quran very differently. While Kabeer is a ‘maulvi’ (priest) who abides by the
widely followed, traditional moral ethical code of conduct, Zara is a
well-educated young woman who applies the teachings of Allah to a logical,
liberal way of life based on modern fundamentals of practicality, rationality,
gender equality, justice and fairness.

It must be noted that the series has managed to displace
Kumkum Bhagya, which, more often than not, occupies the 2nd spot. The
Sriti Jha-Shabbir Ahluwalia starrer acquired the 3rd position this time
around.

Furthermore, Kullfi Kumarr Bajewala, which was ousted
from the Top 10 last week, made a smashing entry into the list. It stood at
No.7. The show, which premiered on March 18, stars Aakriti
Sharma, Mohit Malik, Shruti Sharma and Anjali Anand in the lead roles and
follows the journey of a young singing prodigy Kullfi, who sets out to find her
father.

Audience seems to have taken a liking of the child star’s
acting chops.
A Still From Yeh Hai Mohabbatein
Divyanka Tripathi and Karan Patel’s Yeh Hai Mohabbatein
registered an improved performance in Week 17. The family drama climbed to the
6th spot. Last week, it had to settle for the 9th position. We
couldn’t help but notice that the show’s ratings have been fluctuating for the
past few weeks.
Take a look:
Week 14: No. 3
Week 15: No.4
Week 16: No.9
A Still From Kundali Bhagya
To talk of rest of the leader board, Kundali Bhagya
retained its numero uno postion.
While Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai was the fourth
most-watched show, Shakti-Astitva Ke Ehsaas Ki stood at No.5.
Finally, Jiji Maa was the new entrant in Top 10. Remains
to be seen if it proves to be a one-time wonder or will we see this show as a
staple of the coveted list.
